Job description

Slegg Building Materials is seeking a full-time Boom Truck Operator to join our team. This position is Monday to Friday, 7am - 3:30pm. The wage range is $27 - $34.25 per hour, based on experience. Our Extended Health & Dental benefits start after 3 months.

Responsibilities

Including but not limited to the following:

Driving and Operating Truck

• Operate and drive vehicle to transport roofing and building envelope materials
• Complete pre-trip truck inspections and notify when maintenance is needed
• Transport loads professionally, following the rules of the road and representing the company
• Verify load security and accuracy
• Ensure cleanliness of truck interior and exterior
• Deliver materials to customer satisfaction, emphasizing safety, service, and efficiency
• Safely operate the boom / mobile crane during loading and unloading
• Communicate with customers and other trades on construction sites

Manual Unloading

• Deliver materials by hand while maintaining safety, customer service, and efficiency

General

• Maintain safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as priorities
• Maintain contact with dispatch and resolve issues as they arise
• Work flexible hours to complete deliveries
• Prepare trucks for reloading and assist warehouse staff as needed
• Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 driver’s license with air brakes endorsement
• Level A Crane Ticket is an asset but training will be provided
• Minimum two years of experience is an asset
• Comfort working at heights in a harness
• Effective communication skills and proficiency in English
• Basic mechanical skills
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 100lbs, sitting and driving for long periods, climbing stairs, and movements like pulling, pushing, bending, and twisting
