POSITION SUMMARY
The Commercial Space Designer provides customers with design solutions, product recommendations, and pricing information promptly. They work closely with the sales team to grow existing accounts and develop new customer relationships, aiming to increase sales and customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of Tayco’s offerings and finishes to facilitate the order process competently.
- Maximize sales and customer satisfaction through quotations, generating approximately 90 quotes per month or managing half a territory.
- Contact customers to gather project details, specifications, and requirements to recommend suitable products or solutions.
- Prioritize quotation requests based on dealer tiers, requested dates, and first-come-first-served basis.
- Plan 2D and 3D drawings, create coloured renderings, and prepare parts lists based on gathered information.
- Handle special requests through the Engineering Decision Tree and consult the Engineering department for custom requests.
- Review and verify drawings and parts lists for accuracy.
- Obtain material up-charge information from purchasing or engineering as needed.
- Present final drawings, pricing, and additional project information to customers.
- Proactively recommend items to increase customer satisfaction and transaction profitability.
- Enhance sales and order size through cross-selling, up-selling, and promotional offers.
- Educate customers on product terminology, features, and benefits to improve sales and satisfaction.
- Coordinate with Customer Service and Order Analysts to ensure a smooth transition from quote to order.
- Support team members by covering orders and territories when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree, diploma, or certificate from a post-secondary institution, or two years of relevant experience in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Engineering, or related fields.
- Project management experience is an asset.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, floor plans, and specifications.
- Proficiency with CET, AutoCAD, CAD KEY, 20-20, Giza, rendering software, and Microsoft Office; email experience required.
- Ability to learn new software, adapt to change, and handle multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, including polite and friendly speaking, listening, spelling, and grammar.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and workload prioritization abilities.
- Teamwork, leadership, and empathy skills are essential.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as understanding of geometry and algebra.
- Practical understanding of instructions, troubleshooting, and negotiation skills for complex situations.
- Knowledge of industry standards, products, space planning, and order processes for informed decision-making.
Salary Range : $55,000 to $60,000 annually
