The Role

SensorUp is seeking an exceptional and passionate hands-on Engineering Manager for the Platform team, responsible for providing technical leadership, mentorship, and management to a talented group of engineers while driving the development of an internal developer platform to streamline software delivery in a cloud-native environment. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping SensorUp’s technical landscape by collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams, product managers, and other key stakeholders to build and scale platform services that make our technical infrastructure practical and accessible for developers. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead by example in fostering technical excellence and a culture of growth, guiding the team to deliver innovative solutions while continuously pushing SensorUp’s technology and people processes forward. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering.


Your Influence

  • Collaborate, design, and build complex cloud native software to support such functions as reliability, CI/CD, multi-tenancy, monitoring and logging while consistently improving scalability and performance
  • Partner with security, compliance, and financial stakeholders, as well as the rest of the engineering team to compile cross-functional requirements and deliver critical infrastructure
  • Leverage your hands-on experience with system design and infrastructure as code, particularly Terraform, to architect robust and scalable solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of the cloud platform industry to anticipate changes, drive innovative technology, and affect positive momentum of our platform and products
  • Mentor, coach, guide, and build the team. Guide the career progression of your direct reports by providing feedback, helping to identify growth opportunities
  • Be a genuinely inclusive leader, with an enthusiasm for building and leading a remote, diverse team spanning multiple locations

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
  • Hands-on experience in system design and infrastructure as code, with expertise in Terraform.
  • Recent experience in building, operating, and scaling infrastructure services including identity platforms, storage, databases, serverless computing, developer tooling, and security using Amazon Web Services and third party tools (ie. IaaS, monitoring and analytics, incident management, intrusion detection)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate ideas, expectations, and feedback to team members, stakeholders, and customers
  • Experience managing a team of engineers with a range of experience including infrastructure, SRE, QA, security, and IT
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and familiarity with modern team organizational frameworks

Salary ranges are determined by the role and level required for the position. Factors including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training and location determine individual pay. The position is also eligible for equity, bonus, and participation in our total rewards package in your region.
