Job summary

Job description

The Durham Forest Environmental Education Centre, located near Uxbridge, Ontario, is hiring for the position of Summer Camp Counsellor. The Durham Forest Summer Camp is a wilderness summer camp program with a focus on hands-on, inquiry-based learning in nature for youth ages 7-12 years old. We’re looking for passionate, enthusiastic leaders to fill the position of Summer Camp Counsellor. The successful candidate must be available to work this full-time, fixed term role from June 2, 2025 to August 26, 2025.

Job Duties
  1. Assist in planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities
  2. Work in a team to ensure safe supervision and a positive, inclusive camp environment
  3. Contribute to the development of daily and weekly schedules, including camper groupings, activity rotations, and use of facilities and equipment
  4. Communicate in a timely and professional manner with parents, caregivers, campers, and staff
Qualifications
  1. Be enrolled in a post-secondary program for September 2025
  2. Experience working with children is an asset
  3. Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and able to take on responsibility
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. Applicants must have current First Aid, CPR, and Criminal Background Check
