Legal Assistant – Insurance Defence

Job description

Our client is one of the leading multi-service law firms located in the heart of downtown Toronto.

Your new role

In this new role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the law firm, including carrying out administrative services and providing support to the insurance defence team. You will also be required to draft legal documents and correspondence, liaise with various clients, and review incoming and outgoing mails. Additionally, you will implement and improve upon administrative processes for a more efficient workflow.

What you will need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in a similar capacity as a legal administrative assistant from an accredited institution. You will bring a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace.

Skill Set Required:

  1. Minimum 3+ years demonstrated work experience in Insurance Defence or Plaintiff Personal Injury
  2. Legal Assistant/Law Clerk/Paralegal Diploma or Certificate
  3. Exceptional organizational, analytical, and time management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
  4. Ability to manage multiple files and assigned tasks in conjunction with deadlines
  5. Confident and dependable professional with strong initiative, able to work well both independently and in a team environment
  6. Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure including court procedures
  7. Demonstrated ability to draft original legal documents and correspondence and initiate follow-up action as required
  8. Highly developed English written and oral communication skills
  9. Proficiency with various computer applications, such as MS Office applications, PCLaw, and Primafact
