Job Description

We are currently seeking a Millwright Mechanic to join our team of skilled professionals at our Brampton, ON location. This state of the art manufacturing plant produces premium roofing shingles in a high speed, continuous, asphalt shingle manufacturing process environment.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanic will maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic equipment, conveyor systems, elevators, storage tanks and bins, internal gear pumps, positive displacement pumps, steam boilers, and hot oil heaters.
  • Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot industrial equipment and perform data collection using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Inspect, dismantle, rebuild, and reassemble asset components using hoists, cranes, hand and power tools.
  • Create hand sketches of assemblies and understand dimensional drawings, bills of materials, and equipment service manuals.
  • Inspect and assess wear and remaining useful life of various power transmission components using precision instruments.
  • Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Comfortable using Maximo or similar computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery; knowledge of condition monitoring techniques desirable.
  • Work as a team with other tradespeople, operators, and contractors as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Company’s procedures, rules, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid Ontario Millwright Mechanic License.
  • Experience with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls, and welding/cutting.
  • Prefer 5-8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read mechanical drawings.
  • Must be able to work shifts as well as some extended hours and weekends.
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills; able to work with other trades and operators.

This is a full-time unionized permanent position.
