Associated Bank requires you to represent yourself and your experiences honestly during the recruiting and hiring process.

We invite you to view the opportunity below.

The Universal Banker is responsible for a broad range of activities in the branch, including transaction processing, new account sales, customer service, and referral generation. This role requires cross-training and the ability to focus on both teller and platform sales tasks.

Under the supervision of an Assistant Bank Manager, Bank Manager, or Market Manager, the Universal Banker assists customers by delivering exceptional service and quality with every transaction. The role involves learning and modeling sales behaviors to progress through the banker roadmap and certification. Responsibilities include performing teller transactions, addressing customer needs, resolving issues, and proactively recommending Associated Bank products to existing customers and prospects. Providing excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and demonstrating digital banking alternatives are key aspects. The role involves completing curriculum, meeting performance milestones, and passing banker certification for promotion eligibility. Flexibility to work at multiple branch locations may be required to support a culture of mobility and meet customer expectations.

This position requires a credit check in accordance with 12 CFR Chapter X, Part 1026, Truth in Lending, Regulation Z.

The Universal Banker must operate in full compliance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering and the S.A.F.E. Act. This includes submitting necessary information to meet registry requirements, obtaining a unique identifier, and maintaining registration as required.

This person will also:

  • Acquire new and deepen existing customer relationships through thorough, quality conversations to identify needs and match them with appropriate bank products or services. Uncovering sales opportunities requires understanding and executing the bank's sales objectives, processes, tools, and campaigns, and effectively demonstrating and selling across all customer channels. Ensure proper processing of new accounts and pursue cross-sell opportunities. Refer customers to other branch team members or business partners such as private banking, mortgage, investment services, and business banking as appropriate.
  • Nurture and retain customer relationships by providing courteous, accurate, and timely service, including activities like cashing checks, accepting deposits and withdrawals, handling loan and credit card payments, and dispensing monetary instruments. Look for opportunities to convert service activities into sales opportunities.
  • Answer customer questions and resolve account issues to ensure satisfaction, both over the phone and in person. Perform onboarding calls and follow-up with customers as needed.
  • Protect the bank's financial interests by complying with internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations, including completing required training and certifications.
