Role:

The School Counselor will coordinate the comprehensive counselling program focusing on preventative and responsive services addressing students’ personal, social, educational, and career needs. The counselor will work within established policies, collaborate with team members, and support school improvement initiatives, reporting directly to the School Principal(s).

Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
  • Master’s degree in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or equivalent
  • Training in Restorative Approaches and Trauma-Informed Practices
  • Experience in Group Counselling and School Counselling Programs
  • Knowledge of Professional Ethics and Counselling Skills
  • Experience in Career and Transition Counselling
  • Elementary/Secondary Teaching and Counselling Experience
  • Cultural Responsivity in Equity and Inclusion
  • Ability to value others’ voices and accept constructive criticism
  • Willingness to obtain WHMIS and First Aid certification if not already held
