THE ROLE:

Build Direct is seeking an experienced and talented Logistics Team Lead to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations, as the Logistics Team Lead you will lead a team of logistics coordinators who organize hundreds of shipments monthly to our customers throughout North America.

Responsibilities:
  1. Work with senior management to lead the full lifecycle of team development, encompassing strategic recruitment, comprehensive training, and effective performance management.
  2. Cultivate strong customer relationships through proactive and exemplary service delivery.
  3. Orchestrate the end-to-end movement of product/orders, ensuring adherence to delivery schedules and preservation of quality standards.
  4. Formulate accurate freight quotations, execute order processing procedures, and maintain meticulous order tracking records.
  5. Engage in strategic vendor and warehouse management in both Canada and the US.
  6. Create bill of ladings, customs clearance and other shipping documents.
  7. Audit freight/vendor/broker/shipping line invoices and approve for payment in a timely manner.
  8. Facilitate customer communication and support through integrated multi-channel platforms, encompassing telephone, email, SMS, and live chat.
  9. Execute strategic freight contract negotiations.
  10. Conduct strategic analysis of emerging AI software solutions to identify and recommend solutions for process streamlining.
  11. Research and analyze import tariffs to Canada and USA from each origin country of our products.
  12. Coordinate inter-warehouse inventory movements.
  13. Develop and implement comprehensive packing and staging specifications for newly constructed warehouse operations.
  14. Maintain data integrity through the systematic reconciliation of cycle count results in our WMS (warehouse management system), adjusting discrepancies as required.
  15. Collaborate with customs brokers to ensure accurate classification of new products under the HTSUS code.
  16. Coordinate reverse flow logistics (returns).
  17. File claims with carriers to recover any losses incurred for things like damaged shipments, shipments lost in transit, etc.
  18. Oversee the process of importing containers from start to finish (ocean freight, customs clearance, drayage, receiving inventory into our systems/WMS).
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree is required preferably in the field of supply chain/logistics management.
  2. Exceptional verbal and written English.
  3. Minimum 5+ years’ work experience in supply chain/logistics position with direct experience in the following areas:
  4. PIP (Partners in Protection) & CTPAT.
  5. Custom clearance procedures (US to Canada and vice versa).
