Job Description

Our client is seeking a Lead Architect to oversee the technical planning and implementation of the second phase of a business applications transformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining an integrated solution to support Point of Sale (“POS”), Finance, Sales and Service, and eCommerce processes. The Lead Architect will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, software providers, and our system integrator to select required software, define a world-class systems architecture, design a comprehensive and integrated solution, and assist in planning and implementation of the defined solution. The role requires a strong technical background, deep experience in leading complex projects, and the ability to work well in a complex and high-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead, with our primary systems integrator, to define the technical architecture and a detailed solution design that includes POS, Finance, Sales and Service (“CRM”) and eCommerce, building on the architecture implemented as part of the first phase of the transformation program.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand and document business requirements and translate them into solution architecture and high-level system design.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to refine the solution architecture, determine technical implementation approaches, and align the high-level design with technical capabilities and constraints.
  • Gather detailed requirements from technical and business stakeholders for system-to-system integrations, data migration, reporting, analytics, and non-functional requirements like performance and security. Refine the architecture based on these requirements.
  • Document risks or issues that could impact the project, develop mitigation plans, and manage risks / issues to resolution.
  • Identify, document, and facilitate decision-making with stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including requirements, system design, and specifications, in line with Kal Tire’s development processes.
  • Manage project timelines, effort, and resources to ensure successful early planning phase completion.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders for effective decision-making.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in systems architecture and implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in technical architecture and delivery leadership, with experience in POS, Finance, Sales and Service, and eCommerce systems; experience with eCommerce and POS preferred.
  • Strong expertise in systems implementation, customization, integration, data transformation, and deployment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to document complex technical decisions for non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to develop, socialize, and execute complex work plans with multiple team members.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft business applications or equivalent software, including Microsoft CRM, Commerce, and F&O.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience leading complex projects and managing technical teams.
  • Team player capable of mentoring and developing team abilities.
