About the Position:

As the Valuation Analyst, you will play a critical role in assessing the value of Equiton’s real estate assets. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Finance, you will drive market intelligence to support corporate decision-making and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders.


Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Research sales, rents, costs and conduct market research of comparable companies within the real estate and private equity industries to identify strengths and opportunities.
  2. Perform valuations of assets and liabilities as required for management planning and financial reporting.
  3. Analyze, validate, and explain real estate investment opportunities to help identify potential risks.
  4. Perform data mining to find patterns and trends that can drive operational efficiencies.
  5. Actively contribute to research, report generation, and financial modeling.
  6. Prepare detailed valuation reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Assist with quarterly/annual audit of the fund’s valuations, and more frequently if required.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant financial and operational data.
  9. Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes affecting valuation practices.
  10. Provide insights and recommendations based on valuation findings.
  11. Ensure compliance with relevant standards and guidelines in all valuation activities.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  1. Proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Strong analytical, comprehension and problem solving skills.
  4. Effective stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  5. Concise presentation skills and comfortable presenting at all levels.
  6. Highly motivated, accountable and organized.
  7. Excellent accuracy, attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  8. Familiarity with financial software and tools, such as Excel.
  9. Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

Education and Experience:

  1. 5 + years of experience in real estate valuation, investment analysis.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in economics, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  3. CFA is considered an asset.
  4. A license in AIC.
  5. Experience in investment, financial services, and/or real estate property management is preferred.

This position is based out of our Burlington office and is an onsite role.
