Job description

We are seeking a creative, dynamic, and committed educator to join our team at Bell HS as a Secondary Long-Term Occasional Teacher.

Eligibility

All qualified secondary Occasional Teachers are eligible to apply for LTO postings for which they are qualified.

  • NEW* Extension of LTO Assignment into Semester 2
Extension Criteria

Where an LTO is in a Semester 1 assignment behind a contract teacher, the employer may extend the LTO into Semester 2 provided all of the following criteria are met:

  • The original LTO assignment was posted and the employee was the successful applicant.
  • The employee would be replacing the same absent contract teacher.
  • The employee has the appropriate OCT qualifications, as determined by the employer, for the Semester 2 sections assigned to the absent contract teacher.
  • The extension would not increase their status.
  • The employer does not have documented performance concerns, and there are no current disciplinary concerns regarding the employee.
  • The LTO has agreed to the extension.

The successful candidate will be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and possess the following:

Order of Consideration

Applications will be assessed based on the requirements and OCT qualifications outlined in this posting, in accordance with Policy P.146.HR on Equitable Recruitment, Hiring, and Promotion. A minimum of three qualified applicants will be offered an interview, including:

  • At least three teachers currently employed as occasional teachers with OCDSB, who have the required OCT qualifications and best meet the criteria outlined in this posting.
  • If fewer than three qualified applicants apply, all qualified applicants will be interviewed.
Application Process

Teachers should apply only to the vacancies they are willing to accept an interview for. An OT who accepts an LTO cannot apply to another LTO that conflicts with active classes. Teachers can teach a maximum of three classes per semester, or six classes across the school year at IB or Alternate sites.
