Job Description

We are currently looking for an engineering professional specializing in sustainable design, building efficiency, and energy simulation. The incumbent will work on energy modelling, estimate building energy use intensity (EUI), and collaborate with the mechanical and electrical design teams on energy and GHG emissions reduction measures.

CIMA+'s Buildings team is renowned for designing high-quality, energy-efficient buildings, while prioritizing user comfort. Several of our projects have won awards in various competitions. With a constant desire to offer our customers the best possible service, we have set up a team of specialists dedicated to high-performance projects to support our customers and design teams across Canada.

1. Conduct building energy simulations, energy modeling, and carbon emissions analysis to support sustainable design and operational improvements.
2. Develop energy models in compliance with National and Provincial Energy Codes and relevant green building certification standards.
3. Identify and recommend energy conservation measures for both short- and long-term decarbonization strategies for existing buildings.
4. Propose strategies to optimize energy performance, indoor air quality, and thermal comfort in new construction projects.
5. Prepare detailed technical reports outlining energy analysis findings and recommendations.
6. Present insights and recommendations to clients, project teams, and stakeholders to guide informed decision-making.
7. Prepare documentation to support NECB performance compliance and regulatory submissions.
8. Provide technical support and verification for projects seeking green building certifications such as LEED, Zero Carbon Building, and BOMA BESt.
9. Perform life-cycle cost analyses to assess the financial feasibility of various energy conservation measures.
10. Conduct energy and water audits for existing buildings, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Building Engineering, Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
2. P.Eng certification with OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec)
3. A minimum of 3 years of experience in energy modeling and building performance analysis
4. Proficiency in energy simulation software such as IES-VE, eQUEST, EnergyPlus, and RETScreen Expert
5. Strong background in sustainable development, energy-efficient system design, energy simulation, energy management, and grant/incentive programs
6. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
7. Fluency in written and spoken French and English; This position requires bilingual proficiency as a fundamental skill, empowering you to engage effectively with our diverse stakeholders for projects across Canada.
