FP Genetics collaborates with a diverse group of public, private, foreign and domestic variety
developers. We are the licensee of numerous seed varieties spanning a multitude of crop types
and market classes, which are grown on over 40 million acres across Canada.
About the Role: FP Genetics is seeking an experienced and driven Product Specialist to join our
team. In this dynamic role, you will share expert agronomic knowledge, deliver exceptional
customer service, and drive sales growth within your designated territory. You will play a key
role in developing and implementing sales strategies, building strong relationships with
customers and retailers, and driving the adoption of our Pedigreed Seed and Hybrid Fall Rye
portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
• Expert Agronomic Knowledge & Customer Service: Provide exceptional agronomic
knowledge transfer to stakeholders and farm customers and collaborate with internal
teams to ensure top-tier customer service.
• Sales Execution: Achieve sales targets and contribute to the overall growth of FP Genetics
through effective execution of its strategic plan.
• Budget Achievement: Develop and implement sales activities aimed at achieving budgeted
sales and increasing market share.
• Customer & Retailer Engagement: Seek new farm customers and retailers, actively
growing the FP Genetics business within the territory.
• Hybrid Fall Rye Leadership: Serve as the agronomic leader for Hybrid Fall Rye in the
territory, providing expertise and support to internal and external customers and
stakeholders.
• Crop Tours & Industry Engagement: Organize and participate in crop tours, industry
meetings, and events to enhance product awareness and expand FP Genetics’ footprint.
• Market Development Initiatives: Drive market demand for out products by engaging with
end users, processors, and industry influencers to identify opportunities and strengthen
relationships.
• Trade Show Promotion: Collaborate with Territory Managers and retailers to promote FP
Genetics products at regional and local trade shows such as Ag in Motion, Crop Production
Show, Ag Days, etc.
• Research & Development Support: Assist in monitoring field trials conducted by the
Research & Development team, contributing to product development and agronomic
insights. Translate research results into value for our retail and farm customers.
Qualifications:
• Education: A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field
• Experience in Agronomy and agricultural sales is a strong asset.
• Applicants must be registered or need to become registered with the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists as defined by The Agrologists Act.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of agri-business, crop production, and the
agricultural marketplace.
• Customer Service: Highly developed customer service skills with a proven ability to build
and maintain strong client relationships.
• Communication & Presentation: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal
skills to effectively engage with customers and stakeholders.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media platforms.
• Field Scouting: Ability to scout fields to identify agronomic issues and provide appropriate
solutions.
• Research Familiarity: Familiarity with agricultural research practices, especially in field
trials.
• Self-Starter & Independent Worker: Ability to manage a large geographic territory with
minimal supervision.
• Travel Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory, with
regular field visits and customer engagement.
• Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required for travel within the territory.
