Job summary

A technology services company is seeking an experienced Application Support Analyst to provide support for complex trading systems. The role involves working closely with front-office business teams, delivering application support, and managing release standards. Candidates should have a strong understanding of SQL, UNIX O/S, and relevant financial market knowledge. This position requires working onsite in Toronto, ON, 4-5 days a week.

Qualifications

Job description


Job Title: Application Support Analyst
Location: Toronto, ON (4-5 days onsite)
Duration: 6+ months

Key Accountabilities:

  • Works with front-office business on new deliverables as well as involvement in the ongoing improvement and delivery of current trading systems
  • Delivers application support within set targets or SLAs
  • Release management – Ensures release lifecycle standards are enforced including post-implementation reviews
  • Problem Management – co-ordinates and facilitates problem investigation, diagnosis & resolution. Drives post mortem activities.
  • Configuration Management – Ensures system configuration have controlled storage and change control
  • Supports complex multi-tiered market data delivery systems, market data entitlement application, and related infrastructure, including networks, DMZ's, firewalls, and Web/application servers
  • Uses metrics data to identify common problems and performs root cause analysis to aid problem
  • Balances the requirements of daily support issues while keeping abreast of future developments and enhancements that will impact services

Knowledge and Experience:
  • Good understanding of SQL and the ability to write complex queries
  • UNIX O/S knowledge and knowledge of Shell Scripting
  • Able to use log files and associated data to locate problems
  • Experience in Microsoft Technologies
  • Relational DB experience
  • Trained in Financial Markets products (which may include equity derivatives)

Skills and Competencies:
  • Possesses knowledge of front/middle office functions within large global investment bank
  • Capable of working under high pressure, in high transaction volume environment
  • Trained in disaster recovery exercises
  • Trained in Remedy or other Service Management tools
