Aspengrove School is seeking an On-Call Educator for the Early Learning Centre for the 2026-2027 school year. This casual role supports a program of care and inquiry in a school setting, helping ensure children's health, safety and engagement.

Reporting to the Junior School Principal, responsibilities include balancing activities, organizing space and materials, supporting child-directed routines, and maintaining positive communication with families. ECE credentials are required.

Qualifications

• ECEA or ECE certificate (ECE Certification eligible for wage enhancement premium).
• Valid first-aid certificate is required.
• Criminal record check is required.
• Two reference letters are required.
• Resume showing work history is required.
• Canadian citizenship, permanent resident or valid work permit is required.

Responsibilities

• Support daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor activities; individual/group times.
• Support a daily schedule with child-directed activities and care routines.
• Organize space, equipment and materials before, during and after activities.
• Encourage children to express themselves with open-ended questions.
• Use teaching techniques such as modeling, questioning, demonstrating and reinforcement.
• Promote independence and self-help skills in children daily.
• Guide behaviour to foster positive self-concept.
• Maintain a healthy and safe environment for children.
• Communicate positively with families.
• Contribute to ongoing operation of the Early Learning Centre and meet licensing requirements.

Compensation: ECEA - $23.00

ECE - $23.00 plus $6.00 Wage Enhancement

Job Description

The On-Call Educator shares responsibility with the Early Learning Centre team to provide a program of care and inquiry in a school setting. The On-Call Educator helps to ensure the health and safety of the children in care and to ensure the goals and objectives of the programs are met.

Schedule of Employment

Hours will vary based on enrollment and the Centre’s needs. Current program needs are casual, on-call.
