Job summary

Kepler Academy Inc. in Edmonton Westlink location is seeking Early Childhood Educators to lead activities and support the holistic growth of children from infant to after-school care. You will run enriching programs, ensure safety, and collaborate with families and staff.

Qualifications

  • Alberta Child Development Certificate (Level 1–3) is required.
  • Valid Standard Child Care/Level C First Aid certificate.
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Check issued within the past 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement child-care programs supporting holistic development.
  • Lead activities: stories, songs, games, local outings, creative arts.
  • Maintain a healthy, safe learning environment for children.
  • Assess abilities and discuss progress with parents and staff.
  • Observe for learning or behavior concerns and report findings.
  • Support kids with eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and community service providers.
  • Plan activities for school-age children before/after school hours.
  • May supervise other educators and assistants.
  • Perform classroom maintenance and light cleaning.
  • Assist with diapering and handwashing/hygiene.

What do we need from you?

Early Childhood Educators at Kepler Academywill primarily lead children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth and ensure their security and well-being. You will also organize and implement programs for children ranging from infant care up to out-of-school-care.

As an Early Childhood Educator, we are looking for individuals with a passion for shaping young minds. You will play an integral role in families lives by providing an enriched experience for children.

What will you do?
  • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
  • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, playing games, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
  • Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
  • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • May plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
  • May supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
  • Classroom maintenance and light cleaning duties required
  • May conduct diaper changes and support with handwashing and hygiene

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
Required qualifications to work at KeplerAcademy:
  • Child Development Certificate issued in the Province of Alberta, Level 1, 2 or 3
  • Valid Standard Child Care / Level C First Aid certificate
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check issued within the past 6 months
  • Previous experience in childcare is considered as an asset
  • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of childcare professionals
