Job description

Early Childhood Educator (Temporary) – Holy Cross School

Posting: ECE 2024-11

Location: Holy Cross School, SSM

Effective Date: September 3, 2024

Hours of Work: 3.5 hours/day (AM)

Salary: To be determined

Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with the teacher to provide a high-quality, play-based, developmentally appropriate program aligned with the Early Learning Program.
  • Support the consistent delivery of programs based on current research and best practices.
  • Assist in developing and implementing daily activities for children.
  • Help create a welcoming, safe, nurturing, inclusive, positive, and respectful environment that recognizes individual differences.
  • Support children by providing opportunities tailored to their individual strengths and needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designated personnel.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a 2-year Early Childhood Education Program from a recognized Community College.
  • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (proof required).
  • Catholic Pastoral or Faith Reference (available on Board website).
  • Knowledge of early childhood best practices and current research.
  • Understanding of early oral language and numeracy development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse school community environment.
  • Proficient in computer technology.
  • First Aid certification, familiarity with Health and Safety regulations, and WHMIS are assets.

Note: Selection will be based on employee performance, skills, and ability to perform the work as per Article 16.01(b). The successful applicant must be available for the entire duration of this temporary assignment. Leave requests should be submitted on a leave request form and will be considered according to Article 24 of the Collective Agreement.
