Job description

YMCA Childcare in Penticton is growing. We are looking for engaged, energetic, passionate educators to join our team! As an Early Childhood Educator in our YMCA programs, you will use observation skills to plan a YMCA Playing to Learn emergent curriculum. Children's play experiences are used to build a dynamic learning environment.

Reporting to the Manager of Child Care Programs, an Early Childhood Educator will facilitate a high-quality child care experience for children ages birth to 5 in accordance with YMCA standards and provincial requirements.

Additionally, the YMCA of SIBC participates in the Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement program offered through the Government of BC.

  • Plan, implement, lead, and evaluate curriculum expectations to ensure YMCA Playing To Learn curriculum is maintained.
  • Support colleagues and connect with families to provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate program plan.
  • Actively participate in programs with children, coordinating care to meet the dynamic needs of colleagues, children, and families.
  • Establish and maintain positive daily communication and interaction with families, providing quality customer service and building meaningful relationships.
  • Ensure licensing and safety standards are maintained for all childcare settings and outings.
  • Execute behaviour care plans using a child-centered approach, engaging parents, educators, and YMCA colleagues.
  • Participate in and promote philanthropy through YMCA initiatives.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Candidates holding a British Columbia Early Childhood Educator Certificate (ECE, ECE IT, ECE SN).
  • Enthusiasm, energy, interpersonal, and organizational skills to support a positive team environment.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR level B or C.
