Job summary

YMCA Calgary seeks a dedicated Child Care worker for a full-time role, responsible for providing quality care to children aged 12 months to 6 years. Qualifications

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification.
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check.

Job description

Qualifications We Are Looking For:

  • Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification – Level 1, 2, or 3
  • Experience working with children aged 12 months to 6 years in a licensed child care setting
  • A positive attitude and a collaborative teamwork approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including basic computer literacy
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (CPR recertified within the last 12 months)
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Three professional references

Position Details:

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week between 7 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility in personal scheduling is required to meet area needs. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary to meet training requirements.

Role at YMCA Calgary:

  • Report to the Child Care Supervisor
  • Utilize established communication strategies for internal and external stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively to manage centre operations, including adapting schedules as needed
  • Deliver a developmentally appropriate program aligned with the centre’s Program Plan and YMCA curriculum
  • Support curriculum delivery and child development practices, including active engagement and personal care support
  • Follow safe practices and respond promptly to health and safety risks and emergencies
  • Maintain required certifications and training
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment following YMCA and regulatory procedures
  • Participate in centre, facility, and community events and initiatives
