Job summary

Queen's Daycare in Canada is seeking an energetic child development assistant to support early childhood educators in a busy centre. The role focuses on implementing learning activities, supervising play and ensuring safe, nurturing environments for young children.

You'll hold ECE certificates and be able to communicate clearly with children, parents and staff while promoting health, safety and developmental milestones in daily routines.

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in early childhood education or related program.
• Candidates should have a valid ECE level 1 credential and be able to work with infants and toddlers.
• Commitment to safety, licensing regulations and collaborative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assess children's development and help prepare learning plans.
• Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers as needed.
• Develop and implement child-care programs supporting physical, cognitive, emotional and social development.
• Assist educators in carrying out programs promoting development.
• Lead activities by reading stories, singing, and taking children to local points of interest.
• Encourage creativity through art, dramatic play, music and physical activity.
• Observe children for learning or behaviour concerns and report to educators or supervisors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

TASKS

• Assess the children's development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to his needs.
• Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers
• Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
• Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
• Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
• Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
• Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
• Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
• Knowledge of licensing regulations
• Establish guidelines for behaviour
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
