Job summary

YMCA of Greater Toronto is seeking a Regular Full Time Salaried Early Childhood Educator at Joseph Gould YMCA Child Care Centre in Uxbridge, ON. The role supports children through planned, center-based programs aligned with YMCA Playing to Learn and local curricula.

You will provide quality care, build positive relationships with families, ensure safety, and participate in required training while meeting provincial standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Minimum of six months’ experience working with children
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C or Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C
• Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health
• Ability to lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.)
• Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily
• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Provide quality compassionate care and support to children and their families
• Build positive relationships with children and keep families up to date on their child’s progress
• Be a creative play partner who is actively engaged with the children and makes learning fun
• Independently ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times
• Understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal and YMCA policies and procedures
• Observe and document children’s learning opportunities and development
• Respond to children’s needs including diapering and toileting
• Prepare and serve food following YMCA health and safety protocols
• Report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services
• Attend required curriculum training and maintain qualifications and certifications
• Perform other duties as assigned
