Job Title: Early Childhood Education Instructor

Company: Eastern College

Hours: Part time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 12:00pm

Start Date: October 27, 2025

End Date: October 30, 2026

The Opportunity:

The primary responsibilities of this position are to provide quality delivery of assigned Early Childhood Education courses utilizing a variety of instruction strategies, techniques, and delivery methods to meet the individual learning styles of the students, in a safe and civil learning environment. Instructors are responsible for teaching assigned courses in accordance with course competencies, taking daily attendance, and grading class tests, assignments, and exams.

The Early Childhood Education Instructor will support the vision, mission, and values of Eastern College while contributing to a positive, supportive, and student-focused team environment of respect, integrity, dedication, and readiness, embracing diversity and fostering inclusion

What you'll be doing:

  • Know content and flow of daily lesson plans.
  • Ensure that class delivery is optimized for the specific course delivery method: online or in class.
  • Prepare lecture/lab and class materials as required.
  • Share best practices, ideas for lesson plans and materials with other faculty and the Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator.
  • Develop and/or utilize a variety of instructional strategies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Instruct assigned courses in accordance with course competencies. Teach and facilitate seminars and classes, via online and in class delivery.
  • Effectively use the learning management system (LMS), D2L Brightspace, to access course content.
  • Ensure students can access the LMS platform and other electronic course materials.
  • Respond to student questions about the LMS platform and escalate questions to the LMS Administrator, as appropriate.
  • Identify students who are struggling, absent or have issues impacting their successful progress and escalate to the International Student Education Manager.
  • Communicate with the Program Coordinator on curriculum issues.
  • Discuss options for student success with the International Student Education Manager if the student is not completing modules within the time frame.
  • Foster a safe and civil learning environment.
  • Other duties as assigned

What you bring to the position:

To succeed in this thrilling role, you should bring:

  • Five (5) years of related work experience in an Early Childhood Education environment is required.
  • University degree in a related field (Teaching, Early Childhood Education, etc.) is required.
  • A degree or diploma in Adult Education is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of Adult Learning Principles is preferred.
  • Teaching experience is preferred.
  • Teaching experience in an online environment is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including inspiration, motivation, and facilitation.
  • Strong prioritization and interpersonal skills to balance multiple demands.
  • Readiness and willingness to apply different ways of communicating to accommodate various learning styles.
  • Ability to facilitate group sessions and presentations.
  • Good technical ability and computer literacy.
