Status: Temporary, part-time (Union position)

Wage: $23.73 - $27.19 (starting $23.73)

Grid: 6

Hours: 28 Hours/Week

Schedule: Monday to Thursday: 9:15 AM to 4:45 PM

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: March 31, 2026

Opportunity

We are recruiting for the role of Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our Safe Haven team. The assistant will support morning and afternoon classes, helping senior staff with child-minding for our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist senior staff in monitoring children during activities and rest periods;
  2. Conduct activities such as storytelling, singing, and discussions under supervision;
  3. Help plan and execute developmentally appropriate programs and activities;
  4. Remain alert and responsive to children's needs;
  5. Foster a caring, safe, and positive learning environment;
  6. Ensure safety and hygiene of children;
  7. Report any child neglect or abuse immediately.
Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Education Assistant/Responsible Adult Certificate and at least one year of experience working with children aged 0-6 in a childcare setting;
  • Relevant experience in childcare;
  • Understanding of young children's needs and sensitivity to parents/caregivers;
  • Cross-cultural experience and knowledge of settlement issues;
  • Standard first aid and CPR certification;
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.

A Criminal Record Check is required for employment.
