Salary Rate: $40,950 ($21.00 per hour) - Rate of pay is inclusive of provincial wage funding.

Work Hours: Must be available to work 8:30am- 5:00pm

You will plan and deliver a child-centred program in accordance with our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum (0-6 years) and the YMCA Place to Connect curriculum (6-12 years). We are committed to providing opportunities for your professional development while enhancing the experiences of children and families.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide quality, compassionate care and support to children and their families
  • Build positive relationships with children and seek opportunities to deepen connections with parents and families, keeping them informed of their child's progress
  • Be an active, creative play partner who makes learning fun
  • Ensure supervision and safety of children at all times; understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal, and YMCA policies
  • Observe and document children's development and interactions
  • Respond to children's needs, including diapering and toileting assistance
  • Clean and sanitize child care spaces, toys, and equipment; prepare and serve food following health and safety protocols
  • Assist with meal prep and food distribution, and wash dishes and containers
  • Maintain cleanliness in kitchen areas
  • Attend curriculum training and professional development; maintain necessary certifications
You bring:
  • High School Diploma
  • Food Handler’s Certification
  • At least six months’ experience working with young children
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Level C certifications
  • Up-to-date immunizations as required by Public Health
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 kg, bend, stoop, and assist children
  • Ability to work outdoors for at least 2 hours daily, in various weather conditions
  • Flexibility with working hours

  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Legal right to work in Canada
