Job description

Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is a vibrant, non-profit Christian organization leading a collective movement to end chronic poverty in Toronto.

Since 1896, we’ve worked to transform the lives of people living with poverty, offering holistic programs and services that help street-involved youth, families in need, adults experiencing poverty, and vulnerable communities move from surviving to thriving.

We are passionate about investing in the people we serve and seek a diverse staff committed to our mission: Christians who care for neighbors in need, want to transform lives, and believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect.

If you are inspired by our vision and feel called to contribute to YSM’s work, we would love to hear from you.

What We Offer:

As a staff member at YSM, you will find a values-based, collaborative, and engaging work environment that prioritizes staff’s mental health and well-being. You will engage in meaningful, innovative, and impactful work, with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children, families, and the community. We also offer flexible hybrid work arrangements. Our benefits include Group RRSP matching, annual leave, paid personal days, comprehensive health and dental coverage, an Employee and Family Assistance Program with Christian counseling services, and other perks.

The Opportunity and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will facilitate curriculum development, develop innovative programs, engage children and parents in reaching developmental milestones, and support children with challenges. Activities such as music, art, special events, and field trips are integral to community life in our daycare.

Qualifications:

  • An enthusiastic individual passionate about children and capable of facilitating innovative programs
  • Experience working in a multicultural, low-income daycare setting
  • Creative, fun-loving, and organized with a desire to make a difference in the lives of families and children
  • Ability to supervise student interns and volunteers
  • Knowledge of Children’s Services Early Learning and Care Assessment for Quality Improvement, Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, Education Act, and related frameworks
  • Police check required
  • First aid training with CPR/AED infant/child level C, and full health assessment
  • Personal commitment to YSM’s faith, mission, and values principles
