Early Childhood Assistant (18-Month PT Contract Floater)

Position Summary

Along with providing a safe and nurturing environment, the ECA, under the guidance of the RECE, will assist in implementing the children’s program. The ECA should understand developmental requirements for their age group and work in a team environment under the direction of the ELC Director and Registered Early Childhood Educator.

Who We Need

The CDI Early Learning Centre seeks eight (8) knowledgeable and competent Early Childhood Assistants for the Contract Floater Position from June 1, 2025, to November 27, 2026. The role involves assisting in creating a safe, nurturing environment and supporting program implementation for various age groups.

Position Details

This is a 25-hour weekly, on-site, daytime position, working Monday to Friday, with shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Flexibility in shifts and room assignments is required, and travel between agency offices may be necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise children in a safe, healthy environment
  • Update attendance and conduct headcounts during transitions
  • Assist in preparing and setting up program activities
  • Observe and note children's behavior and developmental responses
  • Maintain positive relationships with families, peers, and visitors
  • Support daily routines and behavior guidance in line with policies
  • Help organize the classroom and maintain records
  • Participate in supervision, professional development, and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Early Childhood Assistant certificate, equivalent experience, or current enrollment in an ECE program
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate

Compensation

This unionized position under CUPE pays $33,374 per annum, pro-rated based on the contract length.
