Purpose Of Position
The Inventory Controller oversees the receiving and shipping functions by organizing the daily workflow of the Logistics team.
Duties
- Oversee the receiving and shipping functions by organizing the daily workflow and providing direction to DA’s and other support staff, in order to accomplish the department service requirements.
- Ensure the receiving area is kept clean and free of any hazards.
- Communicate with internal and external parties to coordinate the delivery and pick-up of items.
- Escalate any safety or service disruption issues to leadership as needed.
- Receive incoming deliveries.
- Sort freight as required.
- Check all incoming packages for accuracy and noting any exceptions or damaged items.
- Document and report exceptions per the department policy and process.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of receipt exceptions.
- Review packing slips to ensure accuracy of shipments
- Investigate and contact the necessary parties to identify shipping discrepancies
- Data entry and reporting in support of inventory up-dates and payment processes.
- Ensure deliveries are labelled for routing to internal customers.
- Prepare shipping documents including bills of lading and manifests in accordance with governing procedures and industry protocols.
- Oversee the activities of all carriers/couriers and 3rd parties in the dock area (ie. Ellis Don, Adler, local delivery services) to aid in processing both inbound and outbound shipments.
- Handle the tagging of capital equipment with asset tag numbers and sending electronic communications to finance for database update.
- Record keeping and filing of all documents including way bills, packing slips and all receiving documents for accounting and record keeping purposes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Hold a valid forklift license or the successful completion of training to acquire certificate within 6 months of working in the position.
- Valid G Class driver’s license with:
- a clean drivers abstract
- 3 years of vehicle insurance in the applicant’s name
- Meet physical demands of the job, including extended standing, walking, lifting and climbing using proper techniques.
- One (1) year of recent warehouse experience
Skills And Ability
- Experience working with inbound freight.
- Strong math skills and problem solving ability.
- Ability to read, write and communicate to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to multi-task and stay focused in a fast paced environment.
- Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment with special emphasis on Outlook applications.
- Experience working with inventory and with using inventory software including Meditech.
- Ability to maintain successful working relationships with your peers and co-workers throughout the hospital to achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Ability to organize time and prioritize workload to perform the duties of the position.
- Demonstrated behavior consistent with Hospital Mission, ICcare Values and Standards of Performance.
