About the Role

The Financial Reporting and Lender Relations team at Brookfield Renewable is comprised of trusted professionals who interact with every part of the business to provide strategic guidance and independent oversight. We help mitigate potential risks of non-compliance with our project financing arrangements to our North American operating and development businesses.

The team plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health and stability of the organization’s operating and development projects in North America. Through meticulous financial reporting, proactive relations with our lenders, tax-equity partners, and joint-venture partners, and robust compliance efforts, we contribute to the overall success and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review quarterly and annual audited financial statements with precision and timeliness.
  • Oversee and conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to generate comprehensive reports for lenders, tax-equity and joint-venture partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the annual external audit and internal controls over financing reporting processes.
  • Monitor and communicate financial performance metrics to management.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements in all financial reporting activities.
  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Lender Relations

  • Direct a team of accountants responsible for being the primary point of contact for lender, tax-equity and joint-venture partners inquiries and requests.
  • Build and nurture positive relationships with lenders to foster collaboration and trust.
  • Assist our Capital Markets teams with discussions and negotiations with lenders.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Review and analyze financing and partnership agreements to identify reporting obligations and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee ongoing compliance with financing and partnership agreements to mitigate risks.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.

Process Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance financial reporting processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Manage technology adoption and coordinate automation to optimize workflows.
  • Proactively address challenges and implement solutions to enhance the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Designated Canadian CPA.
  • Experience in working for a publicly listed company (NYSE or TSX) or the Big Four accounting firms.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize, multitask and meet tight deadlines.
  • In-depth understanding of generally accepted accounting principles – IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
  • Strong exposure to accounting and financial reporting applications.
  • Exceptionally strong Excel skills.

Note: This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
