Job description

Hardware Senior Principal Consultant - Radio Performance (32436)

We are seeking an experienced RF Systems Engineer with a strong background in automation, RF component characterization, and radio system calibration. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cellular standards (LTE, NR), RF measurements, and programming using MATLAB and Python. This role involves working closely with hardware designers and software teams to optimize and integrate radio components for maximum performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities :

  1. Characterize radio components and assist in developing models and software-based compensation functions.
  2. Calibrate radios to ensure performance and stability across operating conditions.
  3. Collaborate with power amplifier designers to bias and tune amplifiers for optimal operation.
  4. Work with system designers to evaluate radio link budgets and integrate components to meet performance targets.
  5. Perform tuning of Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD) and Crest Factor Reduction (CFR) algorithms.
  6. Support data path bring-up from eCPRI to the transceiver.
  7. Characterize radio performance across temperature variations and environmental conditions.
  8. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional work.
  9. Knowledge of 3GPP and FCC standards for cellular systems (LTE, NR).
  10. Solid foundation in digital signal processing, telecommunications, and microwave circuit design.
  11. Proficiency in MATLAB and Python programming.
  12. Hands-on experience with automation tools and scripting for RF testing.
  13. Familiarity with RF test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  14. Strong understanding of fundamental RF measurements related to both transmit (TX) and receive (RX) chains.
  15. Experience with RF components such as power amplifiers, FPGAs, transceivers, and RF filters.
  16. Practical knowledge of RF hardware including couplers, combiners, and attenuators.
  17. Experience working with embedded platforms such as Raspberry Pi, ARM processors, or similar devices.
