Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As a Vice President, you will manage a team of professionals overseeing a trading credit portfolio and facilitating transactions originated by RBC Capital Markets (CM). Your responsibilities include partnering with CM to identify and recommend suitable counterparties, evaluating and screening requests, preparing risk assessments, coordinating documentation, structuring credit mitigation, and optimizing revenues. Additionally, you will maintain relationships with RBC CM coverage professionals, Group Risk Management, and other stakeholders to meet client needs promptly and develop client relationships to enhance credit management and business opportunities.

What will you do?

  1. Manage a team of professionals.
  2. Proactively manage counterparty credit risks supporting RBC CM business.
  3. Prepare transaction requests efficiently for Global Markets credit activities, including seeking and defending business limits and assisting with KYC/AML and regulatory onboarding.
  4. Develop client strategies to improve client experience and support revenue growth.
  5. Maintain a strong understanding of RBC trading policies and guidelines.
  6. Foster relationships with CM sales and trading teams globally to facilitate transactions and maximize business opportunities.
  7. Collaborate with Group Risk Management, Law Group, and other internal teams.
  8. Conduct due diligence and financial analysis of counterparties and industry data for credit proposals.
  9. Provide market intelligence for risk assessment using various sources.
  10. Support credit review processes and ensure compliance with credit limits and policies.
  11. Manage a portfolio of trading counterparties.
  12. Assist sales and relationship teams with business development strategies aligned with policies.
  13. Contribute to structuring and monitoring credit requests and facilities, supporting revenue generation and risk management.
  14. Ensure timely receipt and processing of client data.
  15. Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales, risk management, legal, and client success teams.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have's

  • Educational background: Honours B.A. or B. Comm., with preferred postgraduate qualifications such as MBA or CFA.
  • Minimum of 10 years' credit experience within financial institutions, including credit and risk management roles.
  • Knowledge of global trading products (FX, Rates, Equities, Fixed Income).
  • Strong credit analysis skills.
  • Experience negotiating trading documentation (e.g., ISDA, GMRA) and reviewing legal documents.
  • Understanding of various client types and industries.
  • Leadership, analytical, critical thinking, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, research, financial statement analysis, and legal documentation review.
  • Effective client management skills.
