Role Overview: Leads and oversees the Bank’s Enterprise Operational Risk Event Program, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as OSFI’s E-21 and Basel III Standardized Approach, related to operational risk data collection, maintenance, and reporting. Responsible for developing and maintaining the Bank’s Enterprise Operational Risk Appetite Statement and facilitating operational risk reporting for Senior Management and the Board. The role involves evolving functions to enhance operational risk management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership & Strategic Influence: Drive a customer-focused culture, support strategic initiatives, and foster an environment aligned with the Bank’s values and risk management standards. Build high-performance teams with an inclusive approach, promoting development and succession planning.
  2. Operational Risk Event Reporting Program: Develop, maintain, and oversee the operational risk event reporting system, ensuring regulatory compliance and industry best practices. Provide training and act as a subject matter expert on operational risk event reporting.
  3. Risk Appetite & Governance: Lead the development of the operational risk appetite statement, monitor risk performance, and report insights to management and the Board. Support operational risk committee activities and ensure effective governance.
  4. Regulatory & Industry Engagement: Maintain awareness of regulatory guidelines, represent the Bank in industry discussions, and contribute to regulatory comments and industry groups.
  5. Non-Financial Risk Exceptions: Manage the risk exceptions program, ensuring adherence to standards and collaboration with global teams.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in risk management, process improvement, or change management.
  • Experience reporting to Board and Senior Executives.
  • Accounting designation or equivalent financial reporting experience.
  • Audit experience.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, judgment, and ability to manage complex projects independently.
