The Accounting Manager will oversee the financial & internal operations for a family office focused on real estate (either direct investments, investments related to real estate; or other financial investments). The role requires accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with the family’s long-term goals.

The role will require Accounting Manager to bring expertise in real estate investment & finance; accounting; financial reporting; tax filing, planning & execution; corporate maintenance & compliance as required by local regulations. The ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize portfolio performance will be essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare monthly / quarterly / annual financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flows) for individual properties, joint ventures, and the overall portfolio / statutory consolidated reporting (with supporting commentary) for several entities as well as a wide spectrum of other finance related tasks including monitoring the audit and taxes of all relevant companies.
  • Analyze property performance, occupancy rates, and market trends to inform decision-making.
  • Track capital expenditures, development costs, and financing activities.
  • Budgeting, forecasting involves creating plans for future real estate activities based on current and historical trends and variance analysis.

2. Cash Flow & Treasury Management

  • Monitor cash flow across properties and entities, ensuring liquidity for operations, distributions, and acquisitions.
  • Oversee debt compliance and loan covenants.
  • Manage accounts payable / receivable and vendor / consultant contracts.
  • Partner with asset managers on budgeting, valuations, and due diligence for transactions.
  • Production of clear, concise, and informative financial reporting in a form that meets the requirements of all the end-users primarily the principal and the directors.
  • Responsibility for all financial systems and ensuring that all management and control systems are fit for purpose.

4. Government and Tax Reporting Compliance

  • Coordinate with tax advisors to optimize tax filings (federal, provincial, municipal) for entities, partnerships, trusts, and other business-related filings.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax filings and other real estate-specific tax regulations for all entities, LPs, trusts.
  • Ensure regular government filings, e.g. WCB, Statistic Canada, Annual reports

5. Accounting Operations

  • Manage all accounting books for all relevant companies.
  • Maintain GAAP compliance and internal controls.
  • Oversee real estate accounting software and integrate new acquisitions.
  • Manage audit and liaise with corporate office for any accounting requirements.

6. Corporate Maintenance & Office Administration

  • Liaise with legal counsel to maintain the corporate record and the compliance of regulatory filings.
  • Co-ordinate and manage daily office operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA
  • Experience : 7+ year
