Job Description

Crunchicken is a dynamic Asian food restaurant offering a mix of street food delights, including crispy Taiwanese fried chicken, authentic Japanese ramen, Korean corn dogs, and bubble teas. It is a one-stop destination for a flavorful journey through diverse Asian culinary experiences.

Summary: Crunchicken is expanding, and we are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to join our team. You will work alongside the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen activities, oversee staff, assist with menu preparation, ensure food quality and freshness, and monitor ordering and stock levels. You will ensure meal quality and consistency by following designated recipes. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, cost-effective dishes promptly. Ideal candidates are creative, service-oriented, and level-headed.

Details:

  • Position: Permanent Full-time, weekends included
  • Pay: €34,000 per annum
  • Hours: 39 hours per week
  • Location: 9 Sean Costello Street, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, N37 WR98
Responsibilities
  • Lead the kitchen team in the head chef's absence
  • Guide junior kitchen staff in line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
  • Oversee and organize kitchen stock and ingredients
  • Ensure proper food rotation and quality assurance
  • Maintain stocked cooking stations, especially during peak hours
  • Hire and train new kitchen staff according to standards
  • Manage food and product ordering, record keeping, waste reduction, and budgeting
  • Supervise food preparation and presentation for quality and standards
  • Collaborate with the head chef on menu creation
  • Coordinate with management on supply ordering, budgeting, staffing, and efficiency
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of cooking methods, kitchen equipment, and best practices
  • Proficiency in MS Office and restaurant management software
  • Teamwork and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role with expertise in Asian cuisine
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin
  • Level 3 Food Safety & HACCP certification
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods
  • Work in warm/cold environments without impediment
