The Role:

We are seeking an all-star to become a key member and long-term fixture of our team. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Finance and perform finance and accounting related tasks. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, meticulous, extremely organized, and has the ability/desire to work well on his or her own.

Primary Accountabilities:

• Review trading activity and perform financial analysis on trading history.
• Work with commercial trading team to improve transaction capture and reporting systems.
• Perform Risk Assessment on Transactions.
• Perform credit risk management and assist in implementation of credit with counterparties.
• Assist with banking and finance relationships.
• Review of the preparation/submission of various monthly regulatory requirements.
• Review and oversight of accounts payable and receivable with various customers and suppliers.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly accounting requirements for group of companies.
• Prepare Canadian and US sales tax filings.

Qualifications:

• Post secondary education in business with focus in Finance/Accounting
• CPA, CFA or other designation is considered a strong asset.
• Aptitude and enjoyment for working with numbers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office products including Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to details and accuracy.
• Self motivated with interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
• Willingness to work both as a team and independently.
• Written and oral communication skills and an ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Experience in the energy industry is an asset but not required.

Full time/ Part time: There is some flexibility here to structure the ideal hours for the candidate and the employer. Candidates should include their desired work week when applying.

Work Condition: Flexible hybrid work environment. The analyst will have flexibility to work both from an office setting and/or from home. No travel required with the exception of annual company retreat.
