Job description

PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic Alberta-based company specializing in engineering, design, and testing/commissioning of medium to high voltage electrical facilities. We focus on providing cost-effective and efficient power system engineering solutions and are involved in diverse projects from preliminary engineering to commissioning and startup.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Protection and Control Testing Engineer, P&C Technologist / Specialist / Technician to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, skilled problem-solver, and detail-oriented, eager to work in a dynamic environment that challenges all aspects of testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities:
  1. Testing and commissioning of power system protection & control schemes in the utility, power generation, and oil & gas industries.
  2. Reading and interpreting drawings, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues.
  3. Preparing and submitting reports.
  4. Assisting with the generation of commissioning startup procedures or work instructions.
  5. Ensuring compliance with all safety practices as per corporate, client, and industry standards.
  6. Initiating and responding to customer inquiries, discussing trouble details, and confirming resolutions.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institute.
  2. 6+ years of experience in Protection and Controls testing within the electrical utilities industry.
  3. Strong interpersonal, communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and strong computer skills.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously.
  6. Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to work extended periods out of town.
  8. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  9. Background checks and Drug and Alcohol Pre-Access Testing are required.
Requirements:
  1. Legal ability to work in Canada; VISA sponsorship is not available.
  2. Valid driver's license with a clean record.
  3. Willingness to work extended periods out of town.
Additional Information:
  1. Working hours are generally from 7 am to 5:30 pm, 10 hours/day.
  2. Work hours and shifts may change based on project needs; flexibility is required.
