Data, Integration & Platform Specialist

The GSU group of companies provides leadership in energy distribution, alternative generation, water heater rental products, and leading-edge telecommunications technologies and services.

Are you passionate about unlocking insight from data and enabling digital transformation through automation, integration, and visualization? Greater Sudbury Hydro Plus Inc., a division of Greater Sudbury Utilities, is seeking a Data, Integration & Platform Specialist to join our Innovation Office. This role plays a key part in our organization's digital and business transformation by enabling smarter use of enterprise data, automation, and analytics—including geospatial and business intelligence platforms.

As part of a collaborative team, you’ll help expand the use of data to drive decision-making across the organization. You’ll contribute to data integration efforts, automation pipelines, intelligence dashboards, and support for internal citizen developers - empowering teams with timely, trusted insight.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree plus a post-graduate diploma focused on data analytics, business intelligence, or a related discipline.
  • Have 3+ years of experience working with enterprise data, analytics, and automation in a business or technical environment.
  • Be proficient in SQL and capable of working beyond basic queries, including designing views and stored procedures.
  • Have experience with scripting and data engineering using Python; familiarity with geospatial tools such as spatial SQL and ArcPy is considered an asset.
  • Be familiar with ETL/ELT tools and platforms such as Apache NiFi, FME, SSIS, and integration/automation tools like Power Automate or Make.
  • Have hands-on experience building dashboards and visualizations using platforms such as Microsoft Power BI, ArcGIS Online, or ELK (Elasticsearch/Kibana).
  • Be comfortable engaging with internal stakeholders and supporting citizen developers through data access, standardization, and digital literacy.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, innate curiosity and attention to detail.
  • Possess strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be capable of translating business needs into scalable, data-driven solutions across departments.
  • Show a commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies.
  • Experience working with utility-related data (e.g., hydro, water, telecom) or with asset/work order management systems is considered an asset.

This unionized hybrid position is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

A fully remote working arrangement is not supported.
