Job description

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of approximately 3,000 employees globally. It safeguards the Morgan Stanley franchise by maintaining accurate books and records, contributing to firm-wide risk management, and liaising with industry and government regulators. The division also acts as a conduit of financial information to the investment community and advises senior management on financial matters.

Team Profile :

The Finance Division, reporting to the CFO, comprises about 3,000 employees worldwide. It plays a critical role in risk management, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting, including external filings and internal forecasting and analysis. The team includes Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, and groups focused on Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting, and Valuation Review.

Responsibilities :

As a Business Unit Controller supporting Morgan Stanley at Work and Wealth Management Canada, your responsibilities will include :

  • Managing budgeting, forecasting, and key metric reporting, collaborating with Finance and stakeholders.
  • Leading analysis, forecasting, and presentation of asset metrics.
  • Communicating financial and operational results to senior leaders to inform strategic decisions.
  • Developing analyses to support financial planning and long-term strategy.
  • Leading quarterly due diligence, ensuring compliance and risk assessment.
  • Partnering with stakeholders on strategic initiatives and product development.
  • Managing and mentoring 2-3 direct reports.
  • Leading key business initiatives, including new products, acquisitions, and data analysis.
  • Providing ad hoc analysis and support as needed.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Corporate Finance with 10+ years of experience.
  • Results-oriented with strategic mindset.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
  • Ability to collaborate across support groups and present to all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, or similar software.
  • Effective time management skills, capable of meeting tight deadlines.

Role requires in-office attendance 3-5 days per week.
