A leading Canadian hospital is seeking a Physiotherapist I to deliver therapeutic interventions for adult patients. The role includes assessment, treatment, and collaboration with healthcare teams. Located in Edmonton, it offers flexible hours and professional growth opportunities.
The University of Alberta Hospital, a leading Canadian clinical, research, and teaching hospital, treats over 700,000 patients annually from western and northern Canada. It offers diverse diagnostic and treatment services, including specialized adult programs in cardiac sciences, neurosciences, surgery, medicine, orthopedics, renal, critical care, burns, transplant, and trauma inpatient care, along with numerous outpatient clinics.
This position is part of the centralized Rehabilitation and Allied Health Program, focusing on adult patients. The role supports patients within the physiotherapy team, primarily in outpatient rheumatology, with opportunities to serve other clinical areas on campus. The site promotes professional growth through monthly practice events, mentorship, and quality improvement initiatives. Located centrally in Edmonton, it offers amenities like bike storage, Light Rail Transit, a fitness center, and wellness activities. The schedule may include occasional weekends, with flexible, part-time, or full-time hours on a casual basis.
As a Physiotherapist I, you will deliver therapeutic interventions to help clients achieve optimal physical function and independence across various conditions, including development, disease, disability, and chronic illness. Your duties include prevention, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, case management, and facilitating referrals and transitions. You will involve clients and families as key team members, collaborating with healthcare providers and participating in interprofessional teams to enhance services and quality improvement efforts. The role also includes supervising students, Therapy Assistants, and Therapy Aides, and engaging in peer mentoring.
Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university and current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Current BLS-HCP certification; experience with chronic and inflammatory diseases is an asset. Must meet organizational standards for quality, communication, and documentation. Requires motivation, confidence, positive attitude, critical thinking, and effective teamwork. One year of ambulatory hospital experience in the last three years, preferably in Edmonton. Basic computer skills; familiarity with electronic medical records preferred. Consideration given to combinations of Covenant Health and AHS experience.
Experience with complex patient populations, chronic disease management, and working in various environments (acute/community). Skills in individual and group treatment planning, supervising therapy assistants, and Connect Care training are advantageous.
