What is the opportunity?
This role is accountable for the reinsurance strategy and supporting the pricing, monitoring, and preserving the integrity of the profitability of our individual life and health products. This position supports the attainment of our strategic objectives, including the growth of new lines of business, and greatly influences the brand reputation for RBC Insurance Company.
What will you do?
• Responsible for new reinsurance treaty negotiation and strategy across individual life and living benefits products as well as monitoring of new business cost value proposition
• Serve as the key contact with internal & external reinsurance partners, including any pilots or new proposals the company may consider
• Responsible for the oversight and enhancement of the accelerated underwriting monitoring program for life products
• Collaborate with and influence internal business partners, including valuation, product, project management, underwriting, new business operations, customer service, sales and finance
• Identify and recommend areas of enhancements on new business reinsurance setup. Partner with appropriate stakeholders during implementation
What will you need to succeed?
Must Have:
• Preference will be given to candidates who have achieved their FSA/FCIA designation
• Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
• Minimum 5 to 7 years of actuarial experience
• Ideal candidates have a strong desire to set and exceed challenging goals with high energy and a drive for superior results
• Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively influence others as well as present issues, options and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and proficient in MS Word & PowerPoint
• Excellent working knowledge of GGY AXIS
Nice to Have:
• Familiarity with actuarial pricing, or actuarial reinsurance
• Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills & proven outside-the-box thinking
• Understanding of key regulatory frameworks (i.e., IFRS17, LICAT, etc.)
