Job description

Position: AZ Professional Walking Floor Driver

Base Location: Hamilton, ON

Travel Required: Yes, Cross border United States (Out of town availability required)

Status: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule: Monday to Friday – 13 hour shifts potentially

Summary

YORK1 Waste Collections seeks responsible drivers adept at operating Walking Floor Trucks. The role entails safely transporting waste or recyclable materials, navigating varied terrains, including high traffic areas, construction sites, and transfer stations.

Responsibilities
Operational

  1. Conduct pre- and post-inspections of assigned vehicle/equipment, documenting checks using standard forms or online tools.
  2. Drive Walking Floor trucks along designated commercial and residential routes to collect and transport construction debris to disposal sites.
  3. Ensure loading areas adhere to safety standards.
  4. Complete runs to Buffalo and Michigan from Southern Ontario (Hamilton, Ontario home base).
  5. Administer bills of lading and maintain logbooks manually or electronically.
  6. Submit daily route/productivity sheets and vehicle condition reports.
  7. Comply with transportation laws and procedures.

Customer Service
  1. Interact courteously with customers/public along routes, addressing queries or concerns.
  2. Leave customer locations clean and debris-free where appropriate.

Safety
  1. Operate vehicles in accordance with YORK1 Health and Safety Rules, OHS, DOT requirements, and relevant laws.
  2. Attend scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings.
  3. Promptly report incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  4. Notify Management/Dispatch of service interruptions or potential safety hazards.

Reporting
  1. Track and document activity logs accurately.
  2. Report issues or incidents to dispatch promptly.
  3. Notify supervisor of issues requiring management action.
  4. Submit daily route/productivity sheets and vehicle condition reports.

Qualifications
  1. Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience.
  2. Minimum 1 year of experience driving Walking Floor Trucks.
  3. AZ Ontario driver’s license.
  4. Clean drivers Abstract and CVOR.
  5. Ability to drive standard transmission 15-18 speed.
  6. Ontario Reg 347, TDG, and EC of A training.
  7. Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug screen, background check, including previous employment verification.
  8. Valid passport is required to cross the U.S border.

  4. Normal setting: outdoors and/or driving a GPS monitored vehicle.
