Reports To : Manager, Athlete Experience

Anticipated Start Date : June 2, 2025

Contract End Date : August 29, 2025

Overview of the Position

The Assistant, Athlete Experience will work collaboratively with internal teams to create a safe and memorable environment for all 2025 Canada Games participants during their games experience.

This project is funded by the Summer Employment Program for Students (SEPS). To be eligible for this job, you must be :

  • Entering or returning to post-secondary training in the upcoming academic year, or currently enrolled in high school Level I, II or III or moving from the intermediate level (Gr. 9) to Level I in September 2025, and;
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for, but not limited to :

  • Assisting with strategies and plans to address areas such as accommodations, athlete services, food services, housekeeping and laundry services, safety and security, and information distribution;
  • Supporting the implementation of sustainability initiatives;
  • Assisting with the training, orienting, and guiding volunteers for their relevant venues;
  • Assisting with the implementation of the Food Service plan;
  • Being a fully engaged team member with a goal of positive and healthy relationships in the workplace;
  • Executing all responsibilities in a manner which is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the St. Johns 2025 Canada Games, and;
  • Fulfilling all other duties as reasonably required.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in working with large spreadsheets and/or databases with varying complexities;
  • Strong writing and editing skills and attention to detail;
  • Creative, results-oriented, able to deliver on deadlines and deliverables;
  • Experience with Google's G Suite programs (e.g., Gmail, Docs, Slides, Forms, Calendar, etc.).

Other

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Conditions of Employment

  • Office hours are 40 hours per week;
  • Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check are required for all positions.
