EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT 1 (EA1)
Position Description

Position Summary: Under the general supervision of school administrators and with the input of other professionals, Educational Assistants promote and support inclusive practices within Pembina Trails School Division. They work collaboratively to assist students with diverse needs and abilities, fostering engagement in the learning environment.

Specific Duties
  • Work within established school structures, including classroom management, behavioral rules, and student expectations
  • Assist students with behavioral and learning challenges
  • Provide academic assistance in classroom, small group, and individual settings
  • Deliver specialized or adapted programming under the direction of the classroom and resource teachers
  • Document student-specific program performance
  • Support students with challenging educational needs
  • Supervise recess and lunch duty
  • Supervise and assist with the swim program
  • Administer student medication as per the student’s U.R.I.S. plan
  • Support students in community-based programs
  • Support students’ emotional, behavioral, and physical needs
  • Be flexible and adapt to students’ educational programming
  • Use augmentative and alternative communication methods
  • Facilitate the transport of students between education sites
  • Assist students with eating, including supervision during lunch and oral feeding, ensuring safety plans are followed

Other duties as assigned.
