Shadbolt in your Community- City of Burnaby

The Shadbolt in your Community Arts program satellites programs from the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts into the community, providing opportunities for patrons to sample fine arts programs at a more accessible cost. These programs are inclusive, supporting freedom of expression, giving students an experience of working with Fine Art specialists in an environment which promotes creativity.
We are currently hiring for our Summer Camps Special Guest spots. This position teaches drama games and improv games to the Burnaby Summer Campers as a “Special Guest” in all of the City of Burnaby Community Centres. This position also has the possibility to move into regular programs in Community Centres and Elementary Schools in the Fall 2025 season. You must have availability for Summer Camp special guest spots on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout July/August.
The instructor will be responsible for planning and leading fun, engaging, and age-appropriate games. Introduce campers to theatrical concepts such as improvisation, storytelling, character development, and performance techniques to children ages 6-12. Shadbolt in your Community’s Drama instructors will teach a variety of programs at facilities across Burnaby and Elementary Schools.
Qualifications include completion of, or enrollment in, a university or college level drama program. BFA and relevant experience will also be considered. You must have a strong teaching background and experience teaching drama to children ages 6-12 years old. Excellent communication and classroom management skills are required, along with the ability to adapt to the needs and interests of various skill levels. High Five is considered an asset. Successful candidates must have Emergency Level First Aid- CPR C or be willing to obtain certification prior to the start of the program. Background check and relevant certifications are required.

Hourly wage: $35.00 - $43.00 + 4% in lieu of benefits
