The Opportunity

Due to our growth, we have an immediate opening in our Surrey Central office for a Project Engineer in our Public Sector group. The Project Engineer will serve as the Engineer-of-Record on assigned projects, potentially leading projects or supporting Project Managers in developing design concepts. The role involves mentoring team members, organizing workloads, and ensuring project milestones are met.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate projects through municipal design approval processes as the Engineer-of-Record.
  2. Participate in detailed engineering design, guiding technical support staff to meet design objectives, approvals, and documentation.
  3. Assess engineering requirements from municipal jurisdictions for appropriateness.
  4. Attend meetings with clients, contractors, and municipal staff; document outcomes for project records.
  5. Meet project milestones per client and municipal deadlines.
  6. Track project progress and manage changes in schedule or scope.
  7. Resolve complex issues during design and construction phases.
  8. Manage project contracts, including budget tracking and invoicing.
  9. Mentor and evaluate junior staff members.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of local experience in land development or capital works project design.
  • Registered P.Eng. in BC.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Consistently produce accurate, high-quality work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of technical design issues, constructability, costs, and approvals.
  • Experience with tender preparation and construction administration is preferred.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $105,000 to $123,000 per year, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
