Reportsto: Inclusive Education Coordinator

OVERVIEW:

We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Education Assistants to join our team in Surrey for the 2026-2027 school year . These positions involve supporting Level 1 students with personal care needs , forin-home learning support .

The role primarily focuses on assisting students with daily care tasks to help stay comfortable, safe and healthy. You will work under the supervision of educational staff and collaborate with therapists, parents, and inclusive education professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance with personal care tasks, including hygiene, toileting, dressing, feeding, and mobility support.
  • Support students with therapy follow-up activities.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and encouraging learning environment.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including teachers, therapists, nursing support, the Inclusive Education Coordinator, and parents.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow health and safety protocols.
  • Uphold student dignity, confidentiality, and Christian values in every interaction.
Core Competencies:
  • Model a Christian Walk: Serve as a safe, trusted, and supportive adult , modelling an exemplary Christian walk in speech and action as a living example to the student body.
  • Foster Student Independence: Provide academic, social, emotional, and spiritual support by skillfully scaffolding tasks to encourage maximum student independence.
  • Advocate for Inclusion: Actively advocate for student inclusion within the classroom according to the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and create opportunities for students to be meaningfully integrated into the school community.
  • Develop Self-Advocacy: Guide students in gaining the necessary skills to advocate for their own learning preferences and personal needs.
  • Deliver critical social-emotional and self-regulation supports during transitions and Recess to ensure student well-being outside of formal instruction.
  • Implement specific interventions and supports as mandated by the IEP and School-Based Team (SBT) .
  • Facilitate small group instruction and scripted programming during both instructional time and break periods under the direction of the teacher.
  • Assist in preparing lesson materials and adaptations specifically related to identified student needs, as guided by the Teacher or Inclusive Education Coordinator (IEC) , if time permits.
  • Supervise learning and classroom management routines with authority and diligence, following the direction of teachers or administration.
  • Attend IEP meetings and provide professional observations and data to inform the development of goals and desired student outcomes.
  • Gather evidence of student progress to assist teachers in assessment and the generation of IEP progress reports .
  • Rigorously contribute to logs and data collection for students with behaviour plans or specialized requirements.
  • Proactively develop expertise in specialized areas and pedagogical frameworks, such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL) , to support diverse learners.
  • Conduct regular self‑assessments of job performance and maintain a portfolio of evidence regarding personal and professional growth.
  • Model a profound love for Christ and students, maintaining a high standard of Christian conduct both during and outside of school hours.
