Join the Software Validation team and use your analytical and logic skills to ensure that the medical devices being developed are of high quality, intuitive, and meet design and intended use requirements. The preferred candidate is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or Halifax, Nova Scotia (Hybrid role). Successful candidates outside these locations will be in remote Canada or remote US with less than 25% of travel requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Evaluate and discuss clinical practices and clinical process optimizations with Product Management, User Experience and Design Engineering teams as part of product R&D.
2. Provide continuous feedback and implement improvements to the design, development, and modification of medical and radiation oncology products and systems.
3. Support development and maintenance of Varian products, with particular focus on Digital Oncology Products (ARIA CORE, ARIA cOIS, ARIA STM, etc.) and associated Quality Assurance activities.
4. Participate in and contribute to design reviews, including product use requirement definition, product design and risk analysis activities.
5. Define strategies for assuring thorough design validation of medical and radiation oncology products to demonstrate that they meet design and intended use requirements.
6. Analyze and write test procedures including traceability to use requirements and risk mitigations.
7. Represent the voice of clinical users and patients by identifying clinical workflow bottlenecks, missed opportunities, annoyance in workflows and critical features that may lead to mistreatments or hazards.
8. Ensure that validation is complete, that Varian’s products are safe and effective.
9. Ability to work as a part of global development team and capability to travel globally (30%) to support Varian’s validation efforts.

Essential Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum ADN or BSN (or its local equivalent degree) in Nursing. Pass the NCLEX-RN (In US or equivalent exam elsewhere)
• Clinical experience based in a medical and/or radiation oncology hospital environment or similar professional experience, e.g., Clinical Applications Specialist, trainer.
• Comprehensive medical and/or radiation treatment knowledge.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and fluent English, both in written and spoken.
• Organized and goal oriented with ability to prioritize workload.
• Equipped with an international mind set

Desirable

• Extensive knowledge of ARIA Medical Oncology Information System, ARIA cOIS, ARIA STM, and/or ARIA CORE.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
