Job description

TransCanada Turbines (TCT) is the sole authorized overhaul, repair and maintenance service provider for Siemens Energy and General Electric (GE) aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, serving an expanding international client base.

Summary:

Reporting to the Team Lead, Inspection, the Waterjet Stripping Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of the CNC Waterjet Stripping machine. This machine will be used to remove various coatings from metallic industrial gas turbine components.

Duties:

1. Comprehension of component routing documents, engineering drawings and specifications, OEM repair schemes, and internal process documentation.
2. Preparation of components for coating removal, including cleaning, glass bead blasting, grit blasting and masking, in accordance with company procedures and utilizing various machines and techniques.
3. Use of measuring equipment, including calipers, height gauges and micrometers.
4. Safe handling and operation of a six-axis robotic arm, crane, pumps, and other various equipment.
5. Completion of corrective and regular preventative maintenance on various equipment.
6. Management of all inventory related to the waterjet stripping machine, including ordering of process consumables and replacement parts for equipment.
7. Writing and revision of process programs utilizing a teach pendant and the integrated FANUC teach pendant programming language.
8. Development of new fixturing, masking, and tooling as necessary to improve/maintain efficiency and quality in the waterjet stripping process.
9. Working closely with other departments to ensure the efficient and timely processing of components through the inspection / cleaning department.
10. Willingness to cross-train and gather new skills in support of the company’s changing needs, and to cross-train others.
11. Providing of assistance, when required, to internal and external auditors.
12. Working closely with the HR and HSE departments to understand company policies and procedures, and ensure work is carried out accordingly.
13. Increasing of knowledge regarding the HSE Policy and Manual and maintaining of a positive attitude towards the health and safety of self and coworkers.
14. Taking ownership of HSE issues and demonstration of enthusiasm and support for HSE.
15. Completion of other duties as directed by the Team Lead, Inspection or designate.

This position will potentially require the candidate to work on a shift rotation including day shift and evening shift.

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates with industry and job experience related to coating removal from aerospace or gas turbine components are preferred for this role. Candidates who have experience programming and operating waterjet stripping machines and/or FANUC robotics equipment are preferred for this role.

The minimum training and/or educational requirement for this role is 5 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience that allows the individual to adequately perform the role, determined by the Team Lead, Inspection.
