Job Opportunity: Airport Manager, Kuujjuaq Airport

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra-municipal body overseeing the territory north of the 55th parallel, is seeking a self-motivated and dynamic individual to join us as the Airport Manager at Kuujjuaq Airport.

Reporting to the Director of the Transportation Department, the Airport Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient management and operation of Kuujjuaq Airport. Key duties include:

  1. Managing resources for daily operations, safety, and maintenance of airport facilities for air carriers, general aviation, tenants, and the public.
  2. Implementing and administering airport programs to maintain safety and security, serving as a vital link to remote airports operated by the Transportation Department.
  3. Engaging in ongoing communication, stakeholder engagement, and promotional activities related to the airport.
  4. Providing leadership and support to staff, including Airport Maintainers, Electricians, and Mechanics, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and operational excellence.
  5. Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  6. Managing the airport emergency response plan and liaising with responding agencies and tenants.
  7. Collaborating with the Regulatory Process Coordinator to maintain the Safety Management System, investigate incidents, and follow up on corrective actions.
  8. Conducting regular inspections of airport facilities per regulations and standards.
  9. Reviewing invoices and managing procurement processes.
  10. Working with the Training Coordinator to identify training needs and develop training materials.
  11. Managing travel requests and timesheets for staff.
  12. Supporting the Operations and Administration Coordinators within the Transport Department.
  13. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director.

Requirements:

  • University degree or post-secondary diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least five (5) years of relevant airport-related work experience.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Experience with project management and report writing, preferably in transportation.
  • Knowledge of airport Safety Management Systems.
  • Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, or French.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience in multicultural and Aboriginal community environments is an asset.

This position requires being on call regularly as a Duty Manager.

Location: Kuujjuaq, Quebec

Salary: Minimum $92,718 to maximum $127,481 annually
