JOB TITLE: PARKS SEASONAL LABOURER I - CEMETERY

DEPARTMENT: COMMUNITY SERVICES

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 1

JOB STATUS & DURATION: Temporary 4-months

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hour workweek / variable hours

LOCATION: SANDALWOOD YARD

HOURLY RATE: $17.20 per hour

JOB TYPE: Management & Administration

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assist with general turf maintenance – i.e. fertilizing, mowing, trimming, seeding, watering.
  • Perform garbage collection, litter picking and maintenance of amenities.
  • Assist with grave site maintenance and care – i.e. removal of flowers from graves.
  • Edge and level grave markers.
  • Assist with gardening – i.e. soil management, maintain and plant flowerbeds/displays.
  • Assist with tree and shrub care – i.e. pruning, fertilizing, planting and staking.
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation, care of tools and equipment.
  • Communicate courteously with the general public and where necessary refer them to appropriate supervisor.
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Current Standard First Aid from an accredited organization
  • Ability to perform physical work duties in varied/all weather conditions
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • G2 for entry level positions – may be required depending on position
  • Ability to successfully acquire City of Brampton Drivers and Equipment permits

**Preference will be given to students that have a permanent residency in Brampton.

**Various tests and/or exams may be administered as part of the selection criteria.
